The eFileManager is a small utility program that allows the user to quickly read and view an ASC/X12 or UN/EDIFACT EDI document  in a more comprehensive format by breaking EDI files into recognizable units (e.g. loops, data segments, data elements etc), and displaying them in a hierarchy tree with their descriptions and values.  The eFileManager also has other purposes like editing EDI files; converting EDI files into free-form XML; and also sending EDI files over the Internet. The eFilemanager also analyzes EDI files in accordance with the Standard Exchange Format (SEF) loaded, and displays any discrepancies it finds..  It uses the Framework EDI (FREDI) component for its internal operations.

Starting eFileManager

To launch the eFileManager, take the following steps .

1. From the computer desktop, click Start.
2. Select All Programs, then EDIdEv Development Kit, and finally eFileManager.

Once the eFileManager has been launched, an EDI document can then be opened.
