Saves the Functional Group to an external file.

Syntax:

• <lretval> = object.Save(<sExternalFile>, [<Output type>])

Parameters:

• sExternalFile – Full file name and path of the external file to save the Functional Group to. If the file already exists, it will be overwritten. If the file does not exist, a new file with the name will be created at the path specified. If the external file name is not specified then the document will be save to the same file that was loaded.
• Output Type – Optional.  Specifies the output type.  The output types available are in Output Type ID Constants.

Returns

Returns 1 if the call was successful; 0 if the call was unsuccessful.

Remarks

The data saved to the file begins with the Functional Group Control Header and ends with the Functional Group Control Trailer.  The Functional Group Control Segments are as follows:

ASC/X12:

• GS - Control Header
• GE - Control Trailer

UN/EDIFACT

• UNG - Header Service Segment
• UNE - Trailer Service Segment
